Spark Journal Data Sync

Data Sync helps Spark Journal move bowling history between the lane-side device and the Mac review surface. It is designed around local device-owned data, so bowlers can capture games quickly and review them later without treating the website as the storage system.

Local Network First

Spark Journal sync works best when the iPhone, iPad, and Mac are on the same Wi-Fi network and the apps are open at the same time. Local network permission matters because the devices need to discover each other.

If the network is complicated, such as guest Wi-Fi, tournament Wi-Fi, office VLANs, VPNs, or strict firewalls, local discovery may need extra attention before the devices can see each other.

What Sync Carries

Sync is meant to carry the bowling record: events, games, balls, notes, oil pattern context, and review details. The point is to let the phone handle fast capture and let the Mac handle deeper analysis.

Because the review depends on the quality of the captured history, short lane notes and clear ball choices can make the Mac review much more useful after the set.

Troubleshooting Sync

When devices do not find each other, confirm they are on the same SSID, allow local network prompts, reopen both apps, and disable VPN or firewall tools that block local discovery.

On busy or restricted networks, a direct cable or a simpler private network can help prove whether the issue is Spark Journal setup or the network environment.
